Feeling Stressed : How Food Can Help

Truth is, most of us are overweight because of one thing, Stress. Stress not only the cause of A barrage of other diseases, Stress cause our body to do something to battle it. It creates cortisol in the system. Cortisol is a by product of stress that helps a human being in times of stress... Fight or Flight Kind of stress. Now You may not even think that you are particulars stressed in such a way, however, various activities that the modern human experience has kick in this fight or flight stress level in our bodies. Thing is that the frequency of stressful situations are Far more innocuous than being hunted by a saber tooth tiger. They are things we do everyday and many of us are in need of or addicted to, For instance, We drive almost everywhere and we never think about the stress levels our bodies experience while we do it. Some of us find driving relaxing. Our Body reacts to the speed and to the heighten use of the mind causing stress to us physiologically and our body reacts by releasing cortisol. Use of Computers and technology causes stress. TV is one many people can relate too. You ever hear of someone selling their TV to destress, to read more, to help pay a bill or start a new business? I have, its common to know that TV causes all sorts of stress both mental and Physical. All of that stress fools your body into thinking something isn't right. Then we throw the Food into the pot. We eat more boxed food than any other generation. More and more Americans Grow up With out a Kitchen garden, That was Unheard of back in the day. Even city folks grew tomatoes in there kitchen windows. Most people don't know how to create their favorite foods from scratch, let alone be part of the raw material production to make it happen. THIS causes Stress and a Lot Of it. Obesity, Heart Disease, Cancer, Fibromyalgia, Celiac All of it starts with the stress of our modern living.


Now, Moving to the country to raise our own food and live off the land is not for everyone, so What Can You do, RIGHT NOW to reduce stress in your life, so you produce less cortisol so you can feel good again. So YOU too can get your healthy back?

 

Simple ways to Ad more Plant food to your Diet:



  • Eat an Apple a day!

  • Grow a tomato plant.

  • Add Veggies to your sandwiches

  • Cut meat out of dinner or lunch meals

  • Look up salad recipes to try

  • Spend more time at your farm stand and buy something new

  • Eat 80 % Raw Plant Food

  • Cut Sugar

  • Drink pure water

  • Go Nuts.. Walnuts and Pistachios I mean

  • Stop sating No to Chocolate The Darker the Better!

  • Experiment with Greens!

  • Ditch The Coffee And Go for the tea

  3. I agree Tara! Great suggestions about the food, although I must admit I have trouble cutting out all the stuff recommended, but I do know it's helpful to do so!

  7. I love food! I was glad to hear you bring up cortisol. I've been learning more about that lately and I think it has been one of my challenges. My favorite food stress buster is the avocado! I always keep one or more on hand and a box of gluten free crackers. Apples are also the best kept secret for feeling awake and balanced. Loved all your suggestions!

  11. Thanks, Tara, for giving us the tips re healthy foods. It does seem that the more we are stressed out the less we care about what we're eating. At least that's the case for me. Eating right takes time and attention..
